RiverArts & Tarrytown Music Hall Present Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company – Saturday, October 21st
July 24, 2023 – ARDSLEY, DOBBS FERRY, HASTINGS ON HUDSON, IRVINGTON, SLEEPY HOLLOW, AND TARRYTOWN:
RiverArts and the Tarrytown Music Hall will be co-presenting Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE this October. Following the success of last year’s performance featuring Ballet Hispánico, RiverArts remains dedicated to bringing exceptional performing arts organizations to the Rivertowns. Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE will perform one night only on Saturday, October 21st at the historic Tarrytown Music Hall. Ticket prices range from $35-$65 for this dance program.

Showtime – Curtain at 7:30pm; Doors open at 6:45pm

The program will include Upside Down, March, and Grace; all choreographed by Ronald K. Brown. The run time for the entire program will be 90-minutes.

For the last decade, RiverArts has provided access to world-class dance companies for residents of the Rivertowns. About Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE
Established in 1985 by Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company, seamlessly integrates traditional African dance with spoken word and contemporary choreography. The Brooklyn based group aims to promote understanding of the human experience into the African Diaspora through dance and storytelling and to provide sensory connections to history and tradition through music, movement, and spoken word—leading deeper into issues of spirituality, community responsibility and liberation.
Through their work, EVIDENCE provides a unique perspective of human struggles, tragedies, and triumphs. Using the power of movement, Brown emphasizes the significance of community within African American culture and introduces audiences to the captivating splendor of traditional African forms and rhythms. Additionally, he is an advocate for fostering growth of the African American dance community and has been a vital force in encouraging young dancers to explore choreography and developing careers in dance.
Founder and Artistic Director, Ronald K. Brown, is in great demand as a choreographer. He has set works on Ballet Hispánico, Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ko-Thi Dance Company, Philadanco, Cleo Parker Robinson Ensemble, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Jennifer Muller/The Works, Jeune Ballet d’Afrique Noire, and others. He has collaborated alongside artists such as composer/designer Omotayo Wunmi Olaiya, the late writer Craig G. Harris, Director Ernie McClintock’s Jazz Actors Theater, choreographers Patricia Hoffbauer and Rokiya Kone, composers Jason Moran, Arturo O’Farrill, Bernadette Speech, and more.
Brown was the recipient of the 2020 Jacob’s Pillow Dance award and has been recognized for his choreography in Regina Taylor’s Crowns with the AUDELCO Award. Brown also received two Black Theatre Alliance Awards and a Fred & Adele Astaire Award for Outstanding Choreography in the Tony Award-winning production of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. His contributions to the dance world have been acknowledged through honors such as the Def Dance Jam Workshop 2000 Mentor of the Year, Doris Duke Artist Award, NYC City Center Fellowship, Scripps/ADF Award, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Choreographers Fellowship, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, United States Artists Fellowship, a New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award, Dance Magazine Award, and The Ailey Apex Award.

About Tarrytown Music Hall
The historic, nonprofit Tarrytown Music Hall, built in 1885 by chocolate magnate William Wallace, is listed on the National Register for Historic Places. The 843-seat theater is owned, operated, and loved by The Friends of the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory, Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, cultural and educational organization established in 1979, and who rescued the theater from the wrecking ball on Valentine’s Day 1980.
